Dhaka: Bangladesh and Qatar have discussed issues of mutual interest, with particular focus on strengthening bilateral cooperation in energy, labour and financial sectors.
The two sides placed emphasis on enhancing labour cooperation, ensuring the welfare and protection of Bangladeshi workers, and expanding employment opportunities for Bangladeshi workers, including skilled and semi-skilled workers.
The discussions were held during separate meetings with Foreign Minister Dr Khalilur Rahman who concluded his two-day official visit to Qatar on Wednesday, officials said.
Both sides expressed their interest in deepening bilateral cooperation in areas of mutual benefit.
Foreign Minister Dr Khaliliur held a meeting with Qatar’s State Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr Mohammed bin Abdulaziz Al Khulaifi.
The two sides discussed issues of mutual interest and explored ways to further strengthen bilateral relations between Bangladesh and Qatar.
The Foreign Minister also met with Qatar’s Minister of Labour Dr Ali bin Saeed bin Samikh Al Marri.

Qatari Labour Minister Dr. Al Marri commended the valuable contribution of Bangladeshi workers to Qatar’s economy and development.
